Will Windows 8 Feature Facial Recognition?

Leaks from Microsoft Window 8‘s supposed first milestone (M1) build indicate that the next generation of Windows OS may automatically recognize its user using a webcam, much like how it is done in Kinect using a lower-resolution camera.

The API displayed an option called “Detect human presence,” which was earlier suggested by Microsoft that by 2012, webcams would simply check on a user’s face when he sits down to log in.

Some tech bloggers, however, are concerned about whether the webcam would be kept on during the course of using Windows 8, which brings out a lot of privacy issues.
