At a glance the R4 appears plain and dated – vintage, or retro. But once you get to know more about it, you’ll find that it’s a cool and innovative little gadget.
This relatively small, box-shaped gadget is composed of just about everything you need: CD player, iPod dock, USB playback port, DAB/FM tuner and auxiliary inputs. It has powerful speaker system/amplifiers – an 80-watt audiophile-grade amplifier and speaker system – that produce an excellent quality of sound you wouldn’t expect from a plain-looking, compact design.
The R4 IMS is designed with ease and comfort in mind. It doesn’t need any complicated set-up. Just plug, play and enjoy. It’s also very simple to operate. Just select the mode you want from the custom RotoDial Interface (its own version of a remote) and all its functions, including iPod functions can be controlled. Taking things a step further, Vita Audio designed the RotoDial in such as way that it can be used attached (as part of the design) or detached, like a remote.
Unlike other compact designs which use amplifier chipsets for simplicity and cost, Vita Audio developed their own Class A-B amplifiers on the R4, using discreet component technology – a technique usually used only in high-quality audio. Using sound optimization and 3D sound processing, voices and instruments are reproduced clearly and realistically.
