ViewSonic Tablet Available at Amazon; It's More Expensive than Promised

ViewSonic has finally made its ViewPad 7 tablet available on Amazon. However, it costs more than what the company has previously stated. The device, which was formerly known as the OlivePad, features Android 2.2 (aka Froyo), a 600MHz ARM CPU, a 7-inch touch screen with 800 x 480 resolution, front- and back-facing cameras, 3G for phone and data transmissions, and a full-sized SIM slot. Not only it can be used as a tablet computer, it also functions as a smartphone!

When it was first announced, the company claimed that the price of the new ViewSonic ViewPad 7 would not exceed £350 (or US$543). However, its product page displayed on Amazon states that the gadget is on sale for US$599, which makes it as expensive as the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
