Updated Skype on iPhone Now Available; Free for Now

It was recently announced that Skype version 2.0.0 is now available as an iPhone app. Users can now make Skype-to-Skype calls with fellow users using 3G connection anywhere in the world without having to use up their regular call minutes. The service is available free until the end of August 2010, after which a small monthly fee will be charged (including data charges).

The updated version features 3G connectivity, lessening the chances of dropped calls, as well as CD-quality sound for Skype-to-Skype calls, enhanced call quality indicator, improved start-up time, and faster access to the dial pad from iPhone home screen. It also works on the iPod Touch and even on the iPad, although it lacks certain features.

You can download Skype 2.0 on iTunes.
