Twitter Ends Relationship with Third-Party App Developers

In a seemingly unappreciative tone, Twitter has officially warned developers not to make any more third-party apps that use its content. This comes after the popular social networking site has banned third-party apps from capturing and redistributing tweets, even for academic and research purposes.

“Developers ask us if they should build client apps that mimic or reproduce the mainstream Twitter consumer client experience. The answer is no,” wrote Twitter’s platform/ API head Ryan Sarver in an official statement about the developers that have helped make Twitter popular and influential.

Sarver even hinted that the demise of these third-party apps would not be a loss on their part.
