Toshiba Unveils Copier with Erasable Paper

Toshiba‘s subsidiary Toshiba Tec announced that it is working on a “green” copier that aims to produce erasable printouts, which can be turned blank by heating them with a special device. Its green copier, meanwhile, users a special toner that loses its color when heated.

Because the prints disappear, the paper can be reused for another round of copying, which manufacturer claims can be used up to five times. Reusing blanked-out copier paper can result to a 60 percent decrease in carbon dioxide emissions. It, however, costs about 20% to 30% more than conventional copiers.

These green copy machines are said to become available between October 2011 and March 2012, aiming at both businesses and government offices as potential clients.
