Not to be outdone, Toshiba comes up with its own iPad killer. The Toshiba Folio 100 is an Android 2.2 tablet that runs on a Tegra 2 processor. It features a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1,024 x 600 resolution, 16GB capacity, Bluetooth, HDMI, multiple card reader, compatibility to DLNA, accelerometer, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, and support for Flash 10.1. It weighs over three-quarters of a kilogram and prides itself for its long battery life, which they claim could last for up to seven hours.
The gadget also comes with a wide array of apps and services for the media junkies, browsing hogs, and social networking addicts. Pre-installed software include Opera Mobile, FBReader for the e-books, Document To Go office suite, Evernote, and Fring VoIP app.
The problem, however, is that the device has its own media service instead of the usual Android Marketplace and users may end up downloading limited stuff from Toshiba Market Place.
Toshiba Folio 100 is expected to become available in Europe, Middle East, and Africa, during the fourth quarter of 2010. Price is around 300 euros (US$500).
