Tech jobs database Dice.com has published a list of the industry’s most valuable skills (read: the ones that give huge salaries).
The list includes a number of programming and data skills that could earn you over $100,000 a year. According to Dice President Shravan Goli, most of these skills are quite specialized that boost their value even further.
The ranking of the top 10 tech skills with the highest salaries is based on a survey with over 17,000 technology professionals. If you are seeking a career investment, perhaps this is a good place to start.
1. R – This programming language is widely used among statisticians and data miners. Average salary: $115,531
2. NoSQL – It is a collection of database and data storage technologies. Average salary: $114,796
3. MapReduce – This top 10 tech skill processes and generates large data sets. Average salary: $114,396
4. PMBok – It is a standardized guide to project management. Average salary: $112,382
5. Cassandra – This open-source programming language is responsible in distributing data management systems. Average salary: $112,382
6. Omnigraffle – This $50 app for the iPad creates diagrams, charts, illustrations, and other graphics. Average salary: $111,039
7. Pig – This top 10 tech skill is a data analysis tool. Average salary: $109,561
8. Service Oriented Architecture – This software design helps computers cooperate over a network. Average salary: $108,997
9. Hadoop – This open-source software is responsible in storage and data processing. Average salary: $108,669
10. MongoDB – An open-source document database. Average salary: $107,825
