Apart from getting updated on breaking news and celebrity updates, Twitter is is a playground for comedians using other characters’ identity. While the microblogging service forbids users from impersonating another person, parody accounts get away with it through loopholes, such as identifying themselves as fake.
There are thousands of Twitter parody accounts out there, but only a handful are actually funny. Here are some accounts that are worth the follow, in random order:
@BettyFckinWhite – Certainly not Betty White, but this parody account dishes the nasty on what is current.
@dril – Using an image of Jack Nicholson as his display photo, this anonymous gamer’s tweets are dark, maniacal, and sometimes gives you the WTF vibes.
@The_HelenKeller – For this tweeter impersonating the late author, one can never run out of jokes poking fun on Keller’s visual impairedness.
@TheBatman – Imagine if Batman tweeted whenever drunk. This is what you see.
@TheTweetOfGod – One of the most successful Twitter parody accounts, with a book deal to boot. God on Twitter sounds sarcastic and probably left-leaning.
@KimKierkegaard – The philosophy of Soren Kierkegaard disguised as mindless tweets of Kim Kardashian. It is funny in stop-and-ponder kind of way.
@Queen_UK – Queen Elizabeth II may have her own Twitter account, but her parody doppelganger has more followers and arguably less dry. Her funny tweets, if you get the British references, has landed her a book deal and an animation series.
@PimpBillClinton – If you like your humor crass and a tad over-the-top, this Twitter parody account is for you.
@notzuckerberg – A parody of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, this tweeter pokes fun on the popular social networking service.
@Lord_Voldemort7 – With over two million followers, this parody account of Harry Potter’s nemesis tweets about the cynical side of life, as well as his dislike over Twilight.
