It seems that smartphones nowadays have a shorter lifespan than they used to have. It is not in the sense that they easily breaks down. It is more of the sense that just when a certain model comes out, the next new model comes out about six to twelve months later. You have only just began enjoying your new smartphone when news comes out that there will be a newer version coming out shortly. In an instant, your new smartphone suddenly becomes an old model. It is unfortunate that this is how things work right now. In the case of the Sony Xperia ZR, the same thing is happening.
The Sony Xperia ZR is a smartphone designed along the lines of the Sony Xperia Z that came out around 3 months ago. There are features that both smartphones have in common and others that are either an improvement or a modification in some ways. The Sony Xperia ZR comes with a slightly smaller 4.55-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. It has a similar 13MP Exmor RS image sensor capable of recording video in 1080p Full HD quality.
The new Sony Xperia ZR comes with a 1.5 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM and with an Adreno 320 GPU. It also features NFC technology that allows sharing files wirelessly with other NFC compatible devices with just a single tap. What may be a substantial improvement for the Sony Xperia ZR is that it is now waterproof for up to 1.5 meters underwater for up to 30 minutes. This makes it ideal for capturing underwater photos in video more conveniently. The Sony Xperia ZR is expected to be available sometime in the 2nd quarter of this year. Pricing is not yet available.
