A bunch of leaked images of the so-called Sony Xperia i1, an upcoming addition to Sony’s smartphone lineup, have been popping up online lately. Last Tuesday, Taiwan-based news website ePrice was the first to post photos of what it claims as the Sony i1, which also goes by the code name “Honami.”

Apart from posting the images, the website also reported that the Sony Xperia i1 will sport a 5-inch 1080p HD screen, a 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The report also claims the Sony i1 will feature near-field communication, a 2-megapixel front camera (with Exmor R sensor), 16GB of expandable storage, connectivity over MHL, WiFi Miracast, a 3,000 mAh battery, and 2GB of RAM. It will also supposed to have water- and dust-proofing properties, but whether it can take pictures underwater remains an unanswered question.

The back camera supposedly comes with an Exmor RS sensor, along with Sony’s “G Lens” and a discrete Bionz image processor.

Sony has yet to confirm any of these, even whether they are working on such a device. However, the specs seem to have been consistent with ePrice has been “leaking” since April, as well as several earlier rumors surrounding the Sony Xperia i1, which might be unveiled during Sony’s IFA press conference on September 4 and will supposedly be shipped this fall.
