This compact digital camera may look like the Sony NEX-5R, but it is not. Apart from the Alpha A3000 and three new E-mount lenses, Sony has unveiled the NEX-5T. It has the same features as the NEX-5R, but the Sony NEX-5T also has NFC capability, enabling a “tap-to-device” transfer of photos and video clips.

Like its predecessor, the NEX-5T sports a 16.1-megapixel APS-C sensor with maximum ISO sensitivity of 25,600, a hybrid phase-/contrast-detect autofocus for crystal clear still photos, and WiFi connectivity. Its outer shell has the 921k-dot 3-inch touchscreen (which can be rotated up to 180 degrees), a rear-set navigation dial, and a programmable function button near the shutter button.

With 1080/60p resolution and 10fps continuous burst shooting, its video capture capability would be a darling among videographers and photographers alike. The NEX-5T also works with Sony’s various Play Memories camera apps provides additional versatility.

The Sony NEX-5T will be launched this September in white, silver, and black options. It is shipped with a standard 16-50mm pancake power-zoom lens for $700, or you can opt for just the body at $550.
