Sony Ericsson W508 Walkman Phone

Sony Ericsson W508

The Sony Ericsson W508 Walkman Phone is quite a departure style wise from other previous SE phones. For one, it utilizes a clamshell design, probably the first time this has been done for a mobile phone from Sony Ericsson. This may help add to its appeal as a Walkman phone.

When closed, the Sony Ericsson W508 does not look like a usual SE phone. Its exterior design actually makes it look like a portable music player. In fact, there are buttons made out to help users easily access music files this way that helps boost up its PMP image. It is also equipped with a shake control feature that allows users to proceed to the next song by a simple shake of the phone (or gadget). And another thing, only when the clamshell is opened that the W508 would then be recognized as a mobile phone. It truly is quite an interesting twist.

As a mobile phone, the Sony Ericsson W508 is a pretty standard device given its features. It’s a quad band GSM phone with HSDPA capabilities. It also sports a 3.2 mega pixel camera and supports video calling. From the looks of it, people would be interested more for it being a "Walkman" rather than for its phone features. It would be a case of "to each his own" for this phone cum music player.
