Sony Ericsson may be in trouble when it comes to sales but they aren’t giving up their marketing franchises to save some money. They will be unleashing a new phone with the new James Bond film Quantum of Solace.
The 007 franchise has always been a marketing goldmine. Get James Bond to drive, wear or blow up your product and you’ll surely see your sales go up. That is exactly what Sone Ericsson needs after reporting the Q2 earnings which dropped 90% from last year’s.
So, at one of the biggest movie events this year, Sony Ericsson will be riding along 007 in his Aston Martin DBS. The new C902 Cyber-Shot phone will be used by James Bond through out the film as a replacement for that white K800i he lost in Venice in the last movie Casino Royale.
According to the Press Release, "The 5MP camera, with a unique slide-out lens cover, illuminated touch icons providing quick and easy access to camera options, Face detection, Photo flash and Auto focus enables James Bond to send high resolution shots back to MI6 for quick recognition of his enemies. The phone also offers BestPic™ which allows users to take nine pictures of a moving object simultaneously and choose the best shot to use, plus Picture blogging for uploading photos to blogsites and PictBridge for printing direct to a printer, without the need for a PC or laptop."
Moreover, Sony Ericsson will be releasing a limited version of the C902 that will include movie bonuses such as games and interviews. They say, “We are excited to announce the continuation of our relationship with the James Bond films and unveil James Bond’s new phone for this year – the limited edition version of our C902 Cyber-shot™ phone. With the rich array of content both on the phone and preloaded on a memory card bundled with the C902 Titanium silver limited edition, fans of the secret agent will only get more James Bond with Sony Ericsson."
Well, I’m sure the film is going to be a blast and whatever Bond is using, the crowds will surely be lining up for it.
Actually, it’s not the phone I’m after, I want the car.
