SoftBank Mobile, Japan’s third-ranking mobile carrier with over 25 million subscribers, introduces a Gundam-themed smartphone. For fans of both Japanese animation and cell phones, your worlds have collided.
Gundam is one of the most popular anime series and this new handset is based on the Sharp 945SH with a theme-inspired cover and menus in celebration of its 30th anniversary. The phone features a 3.2-inch full-wide VGA display, 12.1-megapixel CCD camera, video recording function at 720p resolution, digital TV tuner, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI interace, GSM, two-way stereo microphone, and waterproof capability.
Buyers can also shell out some more yen goodness for a separate Gundam themed-dock that also works as a stand for the Gundam robot figure that is included in the package. We could not find the price anywhere in the Japanese source link, but we can safely say that it costs just like any collector’s items.
