Socialmatic Instagram Camera Gets Polariod Branding

Last year, we bumped into a little, thin digital camera that pays homage to Instagram by incorporating its logo to the design and allowing users to edit their photos with filters. The Socialmatic camera, however, takes it to the next level with an ability to print out your Instagram-esque photos right out of the device like Polaroids.

It may not struck a deal with Instagram and Facebook as we have hoped, but Socialmatic has taken great strides since we have last heard of it. ADR Studio, the Italian design company that conceptualized this awesome device, has forged a partnership with private investor Artem Shishakin and another design company Global Mobile Network to form a new organization called Socialmatic LLC.

Just recently, the new company has announced that it has struck a non-binding agreement with a Polaroid licensee to plaster the iconic and nostalgic brand on their Socialmatics. It still looks like an Instagram logo, which is actually inspired from Polaroid’s OneStep Rainbow Camera.

The device, which still remains in concept stage, prints out photos from its built-in Zink printer–much like a regular Polaroid camera. It also has WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a 4.3-inch touch screen, and a customized operating system that syncs to both Facebook and Instagram apps.

Socialmatic is geared for a 2014 release date.
