Many American parents would be thrilled hearing this: Samsung’s kid-friendly tablet will be hitting markets in United States over two months after it was launched in South Korea.

The 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids arrives stateside beginning November 10 for $230. Pre-sales are being accepted starting November 1.

This tablet sports a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a touch screen with 1024 x 600 resolution, a 3-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front camera, Android 4.1, and 8GB of expandable internal storage (up to 32GB with a microSD card).

Here is another catch: Samsung claims that not only this gadget is for kids, but is also designed for adults. The Galaxy Tab 3 Kids can be switched from “kids’ mode” to “standard mode”. This feature is based on a recent market study that Samsung conducted, which shows that 70% of tablet owners share their devices with their children.

The kid-friendly mode comes with parental controls and is pre-loaded with educational and gaming apps, including “Disney’s Toy Story: Smash It!” and “Fruit Ninja”. Meanwhile, the standard mode has an application manager that lets parents monitor and manage which apps and content their young ones can access.

But despite how Samsung insists its Galaxy Tab 3 Kids is for grown-ups as well, the tablet’s brightly-colored body may be a bit too much except if you are into colorful gadgets.
