Samsung is beefing up its tablet lineup with its pair of professional tablets, namely the Galaxy NotePro and TabPro. Both tablets can go as huge as 12.2 inches and are designed for professionals on the go.
Design-wise, the NotePro and TabPro look similar to the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, respectively, this time with faux-leather back cover and silver trim. Both tablets are just 8mm thick and are relatively lightweight.
The difference between the Samsung Galaxy NotePro and the Galaxy TabPro is that the former works with the Samsung S-Pen, while the other does not. Other than that, both devices share the same internal specifications.
The premium 12.2 models sport a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution display, which would have the same effect as a 13-inch Retina-equipped MacBook Pro. Both tablets also have 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front shooter.
On the software side, the major feature on the Samsung Galaxy NotePro and TabPro is the so-called “Magazine UX”, a user interface similar to Windows 8 with its various tiles that users can organize. They also support multi-window mode, which allows the display be split into for different windows so you could edit that document and play apps at the same time. They even have a haptic-feedback virtual keyboard.
The two tablets come pre-installed with a Remote PC app that allows users to connect with their home or office PC straight from the tablet, as well as Cisco WebEx Meetings software that features web conferencing. They are also packed with $700 worth premium and subscription content from Bloomberg Businessweek, Evernote, Dropbox, Sketchbook Pro, and the New York Times.
The Samsung Galaxy NotePro and TabPro are available in WiFi only, with 3G, and with LTE configurations. Both gadgets will on sale first quarter of 2014.
