We have seen many rendered images of what the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch may look like, but if VentureBeat is to be believed, do not put your hopes too much.

Christina Farr of VB was able to grab hold of an internal promotional marketing video featuring a Samsung Galaxy Gear prototype. The video was created by a third-party company that works closely with Samsung. Farr took a few snapshots of the video and posted photos of what she calls the “modern calculator watch” or a “blocky health tracker with a camera”.

The prototype features a three-inch touch display, built-in speakers, and a 4-megapixel camera placed within the wrist strap. It is also said to support Samsung S Voice commands and comes pre-loaded with health apps, which include heart rate and calorie intake monitors, as well as a pedometer. Apart from features commonly found in health accessories, the Samsung Galaxy Gear prototype is said to feature social media functionalities, a working phone call log, and independent Internet access through WiFi, indicating you can use the smartwatch without the need of a smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear is also said to last for over 10 hours on a single battery charge, which many readers on VB find too short.
