Razer Piranha Gaming Headset

Every online gamer needs a good headset when playing. Typing on the keyboard to ask for help and issue commands can be very frustrating as it takes away much of your time and attention (which often gets you into trouble). This is the major reason serious gamers always confide in good headsets. Razer, known for its gaming mice, has just released a gaming headset grandiosely called a "gaming communicator" – the Piranha. Considering its strengths and downsides, the Razer Piranha gaming headset is a solid bet.

Weighing 8 oz., the Piranha headset features padded ear cups, adjustable padded headband, 128-in. cable, clip-on volume control, two 3.5-mm mini plug and a USB connector for blue LEDs. Unlike its precursor, the Barracuda, the Piranha has smaller ear units and more compact setup. It performs remarkably during several hours of continuous play. You will hear (and be heard by) with clarity other online gamers. It also clearly reproduces sound effects and game music. The ear cup foam padding eliminates noise room well, allowing for a more immersive online gaming experience.

On the downside, the volume and mute control is a poor feature. The flimsy controls keep changing the volume level while clipped on your shirt. If it had a tighter volume slider and a more precise mute on/off switch, the volume control would be a great feature. The cable is another huge problem, coiling like a big snake. This can be very annoying. Despite these shortcomings, the Razer Piranha gaming headset is a good investment. Price: $79.99.
