Sony PlayStation 4 launch date confirmed

While the actual next-gen gaming console has yet to be unveiled, Sony has confirmed the PlayStation 4 launch date. During a press even at Gamescon 2013, the Japanese electronics giant announced that PlayStation 4 will be available in the United States beginning November 15, while Europe will get their hands on the new console on November 29.

No word regarding the PlayStation 4 launch date in other vital markets, especially Asia and South America, but Sony expects it will be available in 32 countries just in time for the very brisk holiday shopping season. The company has received over 1 million preorders since its unveiling, making Sony having high hopes about the future of console gaming.

The only thing we know about Sony PlayStation 4 so far is its controller, which comes with a dedicated Share button that records bits of your gameplay to your social media friends, as well as dual-shock functionality, a touch pad and headphone jack. The company has yet to reveal what the main console looks like, but it has been revealed that it sports an X86 processor, enhanced PC GPU, and 8GB of high-speed unified memory.

The new console will be availble starting at $399 in the US (€399 or £349 across the pond).
