Peugeot Shows Off Concept Bike

Peugeot B1K Concept Bike

While we see the personal computer undergo many changes over the past decades, the simpler items like the bicycle only had minimal refinements during the same time period.  How the bike looked like 60 years ago is pretty much similar to what it looks like today, although more efficient and much lighter.  But some companies think that the bicycle can take it a bit further.

Car maker Peugeot comes up with a concept design for a radically-designed bicycle.  For one, this race bike does not have chains and is made from carbon fiber.  How it moves without using chains, however, remains a mystery.

Also note that the wheels seem to be different from what we are used to.  They do not appear to be tubular nor clincher.  The back wheel does not have spokes, while the front wheel is supported by a network of high-tension wires.

It may look pretty, but the question remains:  Will Peugeot produce it?  We’ll just have to wait and see.
