Pentax has announced K-m, its latest entry-class DSLR camera that offers simple and straightforward operation. This makes it possible for beginners to enjoy high-quality DSLR photography with little confusion or trouble. Pentax K-m features an improved version of the original Auto Picture mode, automatically detecting the type of scene or subject and setting the right shooting mode for the user.
Pentax K-m also has a host of sophisticated functions and advanced features. It has the innovative Shake Reduction mechanism for blur-free images, high-precision 5-point AF system, and compact and lightweight camera body for enhanced maneuverability and portability. Pentax K-m also features a large and easy-to-view 2.7-inch LCD monitor and a comprehensive Dust Removal system with removal, confirmation, and prevention devices.
Pentax K-m is a lightweight version of K200D and both have the same 10 megapixel CCD sensor. The latest model, however, has some software functions absent in the K200D: Shadow Compensation, a faster shooting (3.5 fps vs. 2.8 fps), and higher maximum ISO (3200 vs. 1600). Unlike other DSLR models, Pentax K-m’s control system is designed to make things much easier for DSLR noobs. The rumored pricing is $725 for the single (18-55mm) lens and $875 for the 2-lens kit (18-55mm and 50-200mm).
