Seeing the trailer of upcoming Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, it is amazing how this successful franchise all began with a skinny 3D heroine with a polygonal face. You can relive the memory of playing the original Tomb Raider all over again as it released as an iOS app, 17 years since it was first shipped.
Take note that the mobile version is not the 10-year Anniversary edition with Lara Croft all smoothed out. You get to play the protagonist in her boxy, rough-edged glory.
Also, the high learning curve the original Tomb Raider is notorious for is made even more difficult with a plethora of virtual controls found on the touch screen.
Released by Square Enix, the Tomb Raider I is now available on the App Store for only $0.99. If you prefer the upgraded version, Tomb Raider: Anniversary is available at Steam for a hefty $9. But with the holiday sale nearing, you might want to wait a bit before the price drops.
