MEEP! X2 tablet

Oregon Scientific, known for its kid-friendly gadgets among other things, has officially announced its second-generation tablet for kids age 6 and up. The MEEP! X2 looks pretty impressive for a kiddie tablet. It sports a 7-inch display, front and back cameras, a customized Android 4.2, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, 4GB of internal storage, and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM.

As with all children-oriented gadgets, it is not the hardware Oregon Scientific is banking on. The MEEP! X2 comes pre-loaded with apps, e-books, games, and music that kids can enjoy. Meanwhile, parents can customize the tablet’s parental controls, as well as browse the MEEP! Store and Google Play where they can buy more apps and in-app purchases for their young ones. Parents can also browse through their kids’ online activity, such as checking their log files and browsing history.

The MEEP! Store houses over 800 games and apps from Cartoon Network, Toon Goggles, Zeptolab, Thumbstar, Paragon, and many more. This kid-oriented app store enables the young ones to download free apps or purchase apps based on credits made available by the parents. No need to worry about accidental purchases.

The Oregon Scientific MEEP! X2 tablet is sold exclusively at Toys R Us, both online and at brick-and-mortar stores, for $150.
