If you love your digital single-lens reflex cameras, you know Nikon is one of the top brands to own. And when they released a flagship 24.5-megapixel FX-format SLR, expect tongues to wag.

The Nikon D3x DSLR is meticulously engineered for photography professionals who demand extreme resolution, file size, and image fidelity. The camera comes with large 5.94 micrometer pixels that capture astonishing and subtle details. This makes the images fit for commercial use.

The D3x also comes with EXPEED image processing technologies that extends and assures rich image fidelity. At the same time, this technology reduces noise even at high ISOs. You can also select the bit depths between 12-bit and 14-bit though its 138MB processed NEF. Both options would yield high quality images through a 16-bit processing pipeline.

This DSLR also has two Live View shooting modes that add flexibility, with up to 27x zoom in Tripod Mode. Meanwhile, the images are adjusted through its exclusive 1,005-pixel 3D Color Matrix Metering II and scene recognition system that provide intelligent auto-exposure capabilities. These can be viewed on its three-inch super-density 920,000-dot VGA LCD monitor.

The D3x has four preset options ranging from Standard to Neutral, from Vivid to Monochrome, as well as nine customizable settings that provide personalized color control. All of these features are packed in a rugged, durable magnesium-alloy casing that effective protect itself from dust, moisture, and electromagnetic interference.

However, as with other DSLRs with this much features, the Nikon D3x comes too much on the bulky side. Marketed as "The Digital Masterpiece," this camera is available at US$7,999.95.
