While others have been going crazy over tablet PC’s, NEC may be marketing what may be a unique mobile tablet in terms of the concept it was developed for. NEC is launching what it calls the LifeTouch. This device, which falls right in between a tablet and a mobile phone, is being marketed as a device that can be used for cloud computing.
For all its intents and purposes, the place for the new NEC LifeTouch may be still quite unclear for now. But what is known is that it will feature a 7-inch touch screen panel, runs on an ARM Cortex A8 processor, a 3 megapixel camera, and an SD card slot. It is also designed to have both integrated WiFi and GPS capabilities. And yes, it runs on Google’s Android 2.1 OS. NEC says that it is being designed specifically for business use rather than for consumers. The NEC LifeTouch is slated to enter into the Japanese market in the coming months. There’s no word yet on how much it is expected to cost.
