Motorola has unveiled its latest inexpensive phone that does not scrimp on performance. The Motorola Moto G sports a 4.5-inch screen with 1280 x 720 resolution, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, dual-SIM capability, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, and a 1.3-megapixel front camera.

“Next year, 500 million people will by a smartphone for about $200,” Motorola’s CEO Dennis Woodside said at the Moto G launch event. “Up until now they’ve had a choice: Buy a cheap phone with last year’s tech, or a used phone. We don’t think that’s fair, we believe we’ve given them a better choice.”

This entry-level gadget boasts a curved design similar to the Moto X, as well as 8GB of internal storage and an extra 50GB of Google Drive cloud storage. Buyers can choose from 19 customization options with its back covers and foldable covers of different colors. This smartphone runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, with a promise of an Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade by January.

The Motorola Moto G is now available in Brazil and parts of Europe, while the United States, Middle East, and parts of Asia will have to wait until January to purchase it for $179 unlocked. A 16GB version is also available for $199.
