The usually bulky image and video projectors have taken a drastic change. They have become smaller and smaller as days pass by. There are now micro projectors that can provide such functions with portability in mind. Such an example is the Microvision ShowWX Pico Projector.
The ShowWX Pico Projector from Microvision is just one of the many other micro projectors that has taken the attention of gadget enthusiasts recently. The ShowWX is an ultra thin full color laser based pico projector. This device measures 4.64 inches long, 2.36 inches wide and just half an inch thick. It weighs only 122 grams, making it quite a portable enough projector to bring along anywhere.
It is a plug and play device with no set up necessary. It offers a high 848 by 480 pixel WVGA resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio, which is the widescreen standard. This will allow users to enjoy widescreen projections when watching movies using the ShowWX. Projector brightness is at 10 lumens and can resize a projected image for up to 100 inches. Projector batteries allow operation for up to two hours, making enough time to watch a movie using the ShowWX.
The Microvision ShowWX Pico Projector has not yet made its way into the consumer market. Only the prototype has been unveiled at electronic shows. But the company reveals that the retail price for the device would be around US$400 to US$500, depending on the final configuration.
