Virtual reality or VR has recently taken the most attention in many of today’s new devices. With the VR and even augmented reality worlds slowly growing in terms of scope, more and more devices are coming out with features that harness the latest in VR and AR technology. But most of the devices today still need to be connected to a smartphone or a computer that serves as its brains. But that is about to change with the introduction of the Okularion, the world’s first wireless mixed reality headset.
The Okularion is a standalone headset that offers the virtual and augmented reality experience to those who cannot really afford one. Most VR headsets today come at a very high price, making them hard to reach by most people. The Okularion aims to change all that by offering a more affordable headset that can function without the need for connecting to a smartphone or a computer. The Okularion comes with the latest in VR tech components such as a stereoscopic display with multiple adjustments, gesture sensors as well as an AR camera to capture and track the real world while seamlessly merging it with the virtual world.
The Okularion also comes with a standard two controllers for interacting with both the VR and AR worlds. It also offers a more affordable VR and AR experience for people as well as for developers who wish to create content and apps that take advantage of the VR and AR experience. This wireless mixed reality headset is currently going through a Kickstarter campaign to gather funds for its production. A pledge of $225 for early adopters will include a Okularion Dev Kit headset with two controllers and with access to the SDK environment for developers. The first headsets are set to ship out by April of next year.
