LG Optimus 3D Smartphone Revealed

One of the most popular gadgets that were introduced in this year’s Mobile World Congress is the LG Optimus 3D smartphone. The handset features a 4.3-inch 3D-capable touchscreen that uses parallax barrier technology, thereby eliminating the need for wearing 3D glasses to experience its stereoscopic effect. Like the upcoming Nintendo 3DS, which uses the same technology, this smartphone also has a slider that switches off the 3D effect.

The device also has two 5-megapixel cameras that allow users to record 3D-quality video footage at 720p resolution, as well as standard 2D video at 1080p. These footage can be viewed on TV via an HDMI connection and can also be uploaded to a dedicated 3D YouTube channel.

Inside the handset is a dual-core Omap4430 processor by Texas Instruments and a PowerVR SGX540 graphics accelerator.

The LG Optimus 3D will be shipped with three pre-installed games from Gameloft: Let’s Golf 2, Asphalt Origins, and Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance. Release date and price is not yet confirmed.
