LG shows off all its wares at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It is also here where the company has announced its newest smartphones and its acquisition of webOS from HP, a sign that it could slowly veer away from popular-yet-prone-to-patent-lawsuits Android.
But it does not stop there, as LG recently shows off its “world’s smallest” wireless charging device. The WCP-300 is a black, circular pad that measures 6.9 centimeters in diameter. It comes with a standard 5-pin microUSB charger and complies with the Qi standards set by the Wireless Power Consortium.
So far, the WCP-300 can charge the LG Spectrum, the Nexus 4, and the Optimus G Pro. The first two devices are already available in the United States, while the Optimus G Pro is so far being offered in Asia.
LG hopes more smartphones would have built-in support for the wireless charging tech, as the company plans on pushing for smartphones with “more advanced” method of power charging in the global market.
The LG WCP-300 will be available beginning next week in South Korea for around $60. The rest of the world will have to wait.
