LG introduces a new line of UltraHD TV screens that would excite the cinephiles. Not only these screens would have four times the resolution of HD, but they are also curved like what you see in expensive cinemas.
The new LG curved UltraHD TV’s non-flat design can improve the picture as it cuts down reflections. Also, its mega-wide 21:9 aspect ratio and a screen size of up to 105 inches give home viewers the best possible experience in watching larger-than-life movies
The South Korean company plans to formally introduce its latest TV line at the 2014 International CES. The premium model, the LG 105UB9, is a 105-inch beast with life-like 5,120 x 2,160 resolution and a 21:9 ultra-wide shape that can fit the latest blockbusters.
There is a slight shocker to this new LG curved UltraHD screen, as it does not make use of OLED, which is a go-to technology for curved displays. Instead, LG uses an LCD panel, which the company says is no easy feat. To overcome the problem with uneven backlighting for such a large LCD screen, the company tapped the expertise of its sister company, LG Display.
LG remains mum on the price and release date for this advanced TV set, but the LG curved UltraHD LCD screen is expected to be available in a few regions in 2014.
