The Kobo eReader, which Wired recently stated as a Kindle killer, is now available in Borders. This does not formally make the Kobo as Borders only ebook reader, though, but the publishing store will sell several units both online and in stores. Borders ebook store features over a million titles as well as apps for the iPhone, Blackberry, Android, and the iPad.
Meanwhile, rumors are circulating that Borders is also set on creating its own ebook reader as a competition with the Nook by Barnes & Noble. This device will act as the store’s default spot for ebooks and content it sells.
Those who prefer to pre-order will get their own Kobo by June 17.
