Tech blog BGR has posted a series of images that they claim reveals how the next-generation Kindle Fire HD tablet will look like. If theses photos were to be believed, the next version of the high-end tablet would be accented by angular edges, a distinct departure from the smooth and rounded edges of its predecessor (pictured).

The photos were partially obscured, perhaps in a deliberate attempt to protect the source of the leak.

Mashable reports the new design is similar to HTC Touch Diamond smartphone, which became a minor hit among design-centric consumers a few years ago.

In another article, BGR also reports about unconfirmed spec details for Amazon’s upcoming 7-inch & 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablets. The smaller tablet will sport a 1920 x 1200 resolution screen, 2GB of RAM, and a front-facing camera. The 8.9-inch version, meanwhile, will include a 2560 x 1600 display, a front-facing camera, and a rear-facing shooter. Both tablets will reported weigh lighter than previous models.

Amazon remains mum when Mashable asked for comment.
