There will always be room for just one more smartphone brand in this competitive market. Michael Coombes and James Atkins, both former executives of HTC UK, co-founded a brand-new breed of smartphones called Kazam and its first models were recently introduced.

Seven Kazam models were revealed, ranging from “high-end” Thunder line to the entry-level Trooper line. The term “high-end” is used loosely here, with the Kazam Thunder Q4.5 sporting a 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatek processor and 1GB of RAM. It also comes with a 4.5-inch screen with a lowly 854 x 480 resolution. Details about the Thunder Q5.0 remain a mystery, except for the obviously-implied 5-inch screen.

Meanwhile, the Kazam Trooper phones sport single-core processors and half the RAM. Its sizes range from 3.5 to 5.5 inches. All models from both Thunder and Trooper have microSD card slots for expandable storage, two SIM card slots, a removable battery, and stock Android OS. The phones even provide instant access to a support representative who can access your device remotely and troubleshoot the problems.

And here’s something that would start conversations: Kazam promises it will replace your phone’s screen if you crack it within the first year of purchase.

No word yet on pricing and release dates. Kazam is expected to roll out in the United Kingdom initially.
