If a gold-colored iPhone 5S has gotten you salivating, how about a golden iPad mini? Chinese tech website DoNews has reported that Apple is set to introduce a next-generation iPad mini with gold-colored exterior and even a TouchID sensor, the fingerprint reader already seen in the iPhone 5.

The leaked photos of the so-called iPad mini 2 may have some ounce of truth to it, according to Sonny Dickson. The fellow tech blogger, noted for divulging the most accurate images of the iPhone 5S and 5C before they are shown to the public, has tweeted a series of photos of an unassembled iPad mini 2 in “space gray” and “champagne gold”.

Dickson has also stated that sources tell him that the next iPad mini will only have 1GB of flash memory. It will also sport Apple’s new A7 64-bit processor and the M7 motion coprocessor seen on the iPhone 5S.

Both sources have yet to confirm whether the iPad mini 2 will come with a high-resolution Retina display. Meanwhile, Apple has not announced any iPad or iPad mini launch event just yet, but it might come at around October.
