AllThingsD is onto something. The tech news blog with a good track record when it comes to Apple rumors, claims that the company will have a special event to unveil its new line of iPads, as well as the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks.

The iPad launch event will be held on October 22, Tuesday. The venue remains a blur, however. It could be held in Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, Californina (where the iPhone 5C and 5S were unveiled last month), the California Theatre in San Jose (where the iPad mini was first displayed), or the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco (a frequent venue of Apple’s launch events).

It is interesting to note that it is the same date when Nokia will be having its Nokia World even in Abu Dhabi, where the struggling phone company will be introducing its new Lumia smartphones. The iPad launch event also bears the same day when Microsoft Surface 2 tablets become available in retail stores.

The new iPads have been rumored to look just like the iPad mini, except they are larger. They will allegedly sport more angled edges, a portrait-shaped bezel, and a thinner design. Meanwhile, the new iPad mini is expected to have upgraded specs such as the Retina display, and will come in new color options similar to the iPhone 5S.

The big question now is whether the new batch of iPads will have the TouchID sensors, the fingerprint reader found on the 5S that allows users to unlock the smartphone and make purchases using their own fingerprints. The TouchID sensor has since replaced the iPhone 5S’ home button.

Meanwhile, the new Mac Pro will reportedly have an all-new design, while the OS X Mavericks (the successor to the OS X Mountain Lion), will finally end its beta testing and a final version has been sent to developers last week.
