Hum Songwriting App for iPhone

For songwriters, those hit lyrics and catchy melodies can sometimes appear in the least expected situations, which is why they come prepared with notepads and voice recorders to input what goes on in their beautiful minds. An upcoming app hopes to ditch those bulky items and just record their creative stuff straight to the iPhone. The app, called Hum, is currently being funded on Kickstarter with the hopes of raising $20,000 on or before July 24.

The app enables aspiring and professional songwriters to save and organize their creations. These vocal and instrumental memos can be sorted by key, tuning, and mood.

According to Aaron Shekey, the designer behind Hum, the idea behind the app is how songwriters have difficulty organizing their thoughts using iPhone’s current tools. Many musicians record and save their lyrical ideas using the smartphone’s Voice Memos and Notes tools, but they end up losing track of their ideas.

Shekey, who created Adobe’s Edge Reflow web design software, has also partnered with Joseph Kuefler and Bob Walton, both with impressive creative backgrounds from branding to app building.

Hum combines the two tools, making the songwriting process simpler and more organized. Users can record their audio and lyrics, as well as index their notes among other functions.

Interested pledgers can have their very own Hum app for a low introductory cost of $6.
