Not to be outdone in the touch screen mobile phone trend, Sprint unveiled its phone from Taiwanese company HTC.  The HTC Touch Diamond is a smartphone that runs using Windows Mobile 6.1 and supports Sprint’s EV-DO Rev. A network.  This model is filled with wireless option, ranging from Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS.

The Sprint Touch Diamond comes in a very compact body, measuring 4 inches by 2 inches by 0.6 inches and weighing 4.1 ounces.  The front of this smartphone is dominated by a 2.8-inch VGA touch screen that can display 262,000 colors, making images vibrant and crisp.

What can be considered as the centerpiece of HTC Touch Diamond is the 3D TouchFlo interface.  It features a toolbar along the bottom of the screen that enables you to scrool from left to right as well as launch applications in just one touch.  You can also go through your e-mail, images, and music files by swiping your thumb up or down the screen, all while showing an animated 3D effect.

The Touch Diamond is also equipped with a 3.2-megapixel camera with up to 4x zoom and video recording capabilities.  You can shoot images using six different capture modes (whether through photo, video, panorama, MMS video, contacts-size pictures, and picture theme).  You can also choose from five resolutions and four photo quality settings, in addition to white balance and brightness controls.

However, the main problem usually encountered by Touch Diamond users is that it tends to perform slowly.  Meanwhile, its virtual keyboard is cramp and may cause some problems in pressing the wrong buttons.  This smartphone also does not offer an expandable memory slot.
