While HTC has been earning accolades for its HTC One, the highly-sophisticated Android smartphone with an ultrapixel camera, rumors have been swirling that the phone manufacturer is developing a smaller, more affordable version of the handset.
Estonian news website Delfi has even amped up the rumor milled after publishing images of what looks like a mini version of the HTC One. The so-called HTC One Mini is said to come with a 4.3-inch touch screen display, 2GB of RAM, a dual-core processor, and the same ultrapixel camera seen on its elder sibling.
This is not the first time images of a smaller HTC One have been published, as noted smartphone scooper @evleaks tweeted about the existence of a mini version of the One (code named “M4”) in early May.
Rumors about the HTC One Mini comes after Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S4 Mini weeks ahead of its June 20 press event in London. And it is only a matter of time before other smartphone makers begin to join in the “mini” smartphone battle.
Tech journalists have stated that a smaller, more aggressively-price version of HTC One could give the Taiwan-based company some much-needed traction after years of struggling to make a profit and a string of executive exodus. The latest of which was COO Matt Costello, who left the company just days ago.
