Google Unveils Self-Driving Car

Google Self Driving CarIt is no secret that online search giant Google has been developing a self-driving car for years now. It has steadily been getting into projects that are beyond their online search domain. They have the open platform Android OS for smartphones, Google Earth to map out the world online and then the self-driving car. But now Google is finally unveiling its first ever self-driving car prototype that will someday run through highways and roads of cities and towns.

For a long while, the self-driving car has remained as an experimental project. The first test vehicles were simply modified versions of existing car models. But now it seems that Google is confident enough about the technology that they are now introducing a complete prototype. It now contains every feature needed by such a care on the road, including the automated driving system and other mechanical parts such as brakes, lights and steering. The first prototype looks a bit geeky in design, probably to appeal to those who would like to embrace such a new technology.

The new Google self-driving car is all ready to hit the test tracks at first. It will then be hitting the roads of Northern California around next year. Maybe soon after that, you may just be seeing more of them in different designs cruising along your local roads.
