Google Maps Navigation Come to Android 1.6

Google Maps Navigation Come to Android 1.6

A couple of weeks ago, Google launched Google Maps Navigation (Beta) as a free feature of Google Maps on Android 2.0 gadgets, making everybody think that it was poised to become an industry-changing value-propositions for those 2.0s and up.

But then, Google announced on Monday that they are "expanding" Google Maps’ availability to devices that run on Android 1.6 and up, including the T-Mobile myTouch 3G and the G1.

There may be a little backporting there, but at least owners of the Donut, myTouch, and G1 will be equipped with a Naviagtion device – and just in time for Thanksgiving too!
