The race to build a smart home is becoming all the more interesting. Many device makers are really trying to develop products that will enable more and more people to build smart homes. And with most smart homes, it all starts with the “brain”, or the central unit where everything can be controlled. Many are betting that the control base should start with having AI, or artificial intelligence to run everything. Google is trying to make that first step with its new Google Home digital home assistant and speaker.
The Google Home is the search giant’s answer to Amazon’s Echo and Echo Dot speakers. You may consider it a smart speaker that comes with added functions to make life more convenient for the homeowner. This smart speaker comes with Google Assistant that allows users to issue voice commands for the Google Assistant to do. With the Google Home unit connected to other smart home-supported devices, it will be able to provide a means to control those things. Not only that, Google Assistant comes with advanced AI that will allow users to ask questions to it and it will provide answers.
The Google Home also comes with a set of four speakers hidden inside that can provide some clear and crisp hi-fi audio. The microphone is also sensitive enough to capture the users voice commands even when the speaker is playing music or other audio files. All it takes for Google Assistant to take over is when users say, “OK Google” and then it is all set. The Google Home is just one way that you can see the direction where the smart home of the future is going. It is now available at Google for $130.
