Facebook Home Now Available in Canada and UK

Facebook, the largest social networking service, has announced that its Facebook Home is now available for Android users in Canada and the United Kingdom. People from the Great White North and across the pond can now download Facebook Home from Google Play.

Facebook Home works on selected Android smartphones. It puts Facebook services front and center of the phone’s user interface. In a way, the program turns your smartphone into a Facebook phone without having to purchase new hardware. During its launch in the US, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that Facebook Home aims to put people–not apps–and the center of your smartphone.

The list of compatible devices include the Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC One X+, HTC One X, and HTC One.

There is also the HTC First, the first smartphone pre-loaded with Facebook Home, but it is currently an AT&T exclusive. UK-based carriers EE and Orange have confirmed they will be carrying it over there, while we have yet to hear from Canadian wireless services on whether they would be offering the HTC First as well.

Meanwhile, Facebook has assured consumers from other countries they would be getting their fill of Home for their Android devices a few weeks (or months) after its US launch.
