Face Verification Technology Being Tested on a Nokia N900

A lot of us want our smartphones to have more protection. Many advanced attempts to unlock PINs, security codes, and PUK numbers are being developed, which is why several firms have been researching for alternative ways of identifying the owners of certain phones.

One such technology is face verification. We have already seen that in webcams, laptops, and even on Microsoft Kinect for Xbox 360. A research team in University of Manchester, has developed a prototype using a Nokia N900. The phone quickly locks and tracks 22 facial features using its front-facing camera, even when being used upside down. However, it is not stated how long the face verification lasts. Let this video show you how it is done.
