Dell is acting more like a fashion designer than a PC manufacturer. They recently released their Fall collection so to speak available this fall of course.

Sparked by a new generation of designer PC’s which are simply the same PC’s in a pretty case like the Mac, EeePC (desktop), Alienware and others, Dell is releasing their new Studio Hybrid PC’s this fall (now only available online) in stores.

"Dell’s smallest, most personalized and most environmentally responsible consumer PC, the Studio Hybrid, launches today. Available immediately at, the PC’s new unique shape and size, personalized with six optional, external jewel-toned color or bamboo sleeves, unleashes stylistic expression, inspiration and fun and looks great in any room."

Yeah, you read it right, bamboo. Michael Tatelman, vice president, Dell global consumer sales and marketing says, “The design and craftsmanship of the Studio Hybrid alone are enough to cause you to do a double take. Combine that with the performance of this little beauty and its environmentally smart DNA, and you’ve got something truly unique – something that you can make your own.”

Aside from the design, the Studio Hybrid PC is a decent feature packed machine. It includes, among other usual features,

  • Wi-Fi networking – allows people to place the PC anywhere that’s convenient for them.
  • Wireless keyboard and mouse help ensure a clean desktop, counter top or coffee table.
  • Blu-ray DiscTM drive for watching high-definition DVDs.
  • TV tuner that enables users to watch, pause and record live TV

Additionally, Dell also claims that their new machine is more environment friendly and energy efficient using about 70 percent less energy and certified Energy Star 4.0 compliant. Even the packaging was thought out well.

  • Reduced packing materials about 30 percent by weight as compared to typical tower desktops.
  • Packing materials are also 95 percent recyclable.
  • Reduced printed documentation 75 percent by weight on average as compared to typical tower desktops.
  • System recycling kit is included.

And that’s the highlight of the collection. The Studio Hybrid PC starts at $499.
