Dell introduces its latest ultrabook for its enterprise clientele. The Dell Latitude 7000 is being tagged as the “world’s most secure ultrabook,” combining its consumer-oriented XP3 13 with features the guys from the IT department would love.

Unlike many enterprise ultrabooks, the Dell Latitude 7000 has a thinner and lighter profile, weighing just below three pounds and merely 0.79 inch thin. The guys at Dell made sure this ultrabook would not only perform efficiently out of the box, but even five years from now.

This ultrabook comes with a fingerprint reader, smart card support, and WiGig compatibility (allowing the Latitude 7000 to connect into a work station wirelessly). It also features loads of security features like the Dell Data Protection, which encrypts data to ultra-high FIPS 140-2 standard, and Protected Workspace that defends against zero-day attacks from newly-created malware.

Starting at $1,049, the Dell Latitude 7000 comes with various configuration options. For one, you can choose between a 12.5- and 14-inch screen size. You can also opt for its most premium configuration: up to 8GB RAM, full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080), an Intel Core i7 processor, up to 256GB of SSD, and a touch screen. There is also an option for non-touch screen, as well as a 500GB hard disk for the 14-inch model.

If you find the Dell Latitude 7000 way too advanced for your liking, the company also offers Latitude 5000 and Latitude 3000 series of laptops. The 5000 series has the same security benefits as the 7000, but with bulkier and heavier build. Meanwhile, the 3000 series is geared toward the education market. Its price starts at $549 and does not have the same security features as the 7000. Both series come in 14- and 15.6-inch models.

The Dell Latitude 7000 and 3000 series will be available on retail beginning September 12, while the 5000 series roll out a month later.
