Catholic Church Approves iPhone App for Sinners

Whoever said the Roman Catholic Church never swings with the changing times is (somewhat) wrong. An iPhone app was given an approval by a Catholic bishop for its effort to save the sinners from the fires of Hell.

What is it and what does it do? The app is appropriately called “Confession: A Roman Catholic App.” According to the app’s iTunes description, it features “a personalized examination of conscience for each user, password-protected profiles, and a step-by-step guide to the sacrament of Penance” or confessing one’s sin.

The Confession app, developed by Little iApps, provides users with a mobile walkthrough of the traditional process of confession. It would even track when was the last time the user confessed. The process, however, lacks one vital step: Absolution, which is only performed by a priest. Perhaps the app can be updated with a FaceTime session with the priest?

The app is now available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch in iTunes App Store for only US$1.99.
