If you are like many other coffee addicts who prefer their cup o’joe brewed (not instant), you know nothing beats a cup of coffee from freshly roasted and freshly ground beans. Roasting, grinding, and brewing coffee require a lot of time using separate instruments. A company wants this tedious process be quick and easy using just a single machine.
The Bonaverde Coffee Changers has launched a Kickstart campaign for its “world’s first roast-grind-brew coffee machine”. They hope to be able to gather at least $135,000 of funding to jumpstart its manufacturing and distribution stages.
This innovative kitchen gadget prototype is slightly larger than a standard grind-and-brew machine, but this one has the ability to make green coffee beans into an aromatic dark roast into just minutes. It sports a stainless steel rotating roaster that makes a single batch of roasted beans at a time. Roasting them takes about three to four minutes, while the necessary cool down takes about 9 to 11 minutes more. The heating element that roasts the beans also preheats the water, thus saving energy.
Users would be able to control how dark they want the roasted beans to be, as well as the size of the grind from the ceramic conical grinder.
The Bonaverde Coffee Changers has able to reach its funding goal within the first week of its campaign, garnering about $147,000 from over 500 backers. You can pledge for at least $300 to have your own roast-grind-brew machine, hopefully by October 2014.
